Will you be an advocate to the children of India?
Dear Perry,
I am writing to you and some of our other “very active” sponsors to ask you for help. As you know, we have recently started a new program in India. The children there have much need; physically, emotionally and spiritually. Physically, you can see in the photos that their basic needs are not being met for clothing (they go barefoot continuously), food (their tribe eats rats for meat), clean water and education. Emotionally, these children are conditioned by the Hindu culture to believe that they are sub-human and have no value – because they belong to the Dalit tribe (untouchable caste). Can you imagine every day being reminded by your “society” that you and your family are worthless and soulless? Spiritually, they are mostly Hindu and Animist and are ripe to hear the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. There have been some successful conversions already in the village we have adopted.
The spiritual warfare in this part of the world is intens e as Satan is trying hard to keep them in bondage (as they have been for generations) and does not want them to hear the freedom that comes from the gospel of Jesus Christ. In fact, in the last month this has manifested itself violently as Christians in the neighboring state of Orissa are being persecuted by Hindu radicals. Christians have been burned alive, have had their homes and churches destroyed, and have fled into the jungles to escape the violence. This has been going on for over a month now and, as of this writing, is still happening.
So far, we’ve only received a handful of sponsorships for these precious children (6 of 25). We have 19 children right now who need sponsors. We will soon be adding 25 more to the website. We have such an opportunity to show them the love of Jesus, a “real” God that loves them each as individuals and places a high value on them. We have partnered with a pastor who leads pastor conferences in the area and is on the front lines of sharing the gospel with these Dalit tribes.
Sponsoring these children will show them “God’s Love” by helping their physical needs (money for necessities, clean water, education, etc.), emotional needs (loving Christian sponsors who write to them and care about them) and spiritually (enabling our local pastors to share the gospel with them, baptize them, etc.)
